Colts come up short in game 1 in playoffs

DIDSDBURY - It’s do or die for the Mountain View Colts when they face off against the Airdrie Friday night after dropping game 1 in the best-of-three, first round playoff series on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Down 5-1 going into the third, the Colts got two goals in the final stanza but couldn’t complete the comeback, falling 5-3 in front of a large crowd at Didsbury Memorial Complex Arena.

The Colts got goals from Hayden Sotheran (assists Ryley Lodermeier and Paton Rothensbusch) in the first, and from Logan Richards (assist Nate McNeely) and Jordan Saunders (assists Carter Layden and McNeely) in the third.

Colts netminder Chase Griffith stopped 53 of 58 shots.

The Thunder got two goals from, Dace Carlson, and singles from Johnaton Esposito, Trey Stovin, Joey Haden and Luke Jensen.
