CREMONA - A byelection will be held for the Village of Cremona council on Feb. 6 to replace outgoing first-term councillor Terry Thompson.

Nomination day is Jan. 9, marking the final day for candidates to run in the  byelection.

Thompson resigned in October, making him the second Village of Cremona councillor to resign in 2023.

Councillor Joseph Shi resigned in March. Jody Shane Dick won the subsequent byelection on June 12, defeating three other candidates.

Cremona chief administrative officer Karen O’Conner said a scrutineer will be hired for the Feb. 6 byelection, and she will be the returning officer.
