CARSTAIRS - A 59-year-old Carstairs woman facing two charges of counselling to commit the indictable offence of murder has made her first court appearance.

Audra Symbalisty faces the charge under Section 464(a) of the Criminal Code. She appeared in Alberta Court of Justice in Okotoks on Friday.

On Feb. 12, police entered into an investigation after learning an individual was asked by a female to kill another person, said RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney.

Following an extensive investigation Symbalisty was arrested and charged on Feb. 28.

Although police have said the intended victim is an adult, they have declined to say whether that person is a man or woman or to provide any information on the person allegedly approached by the accused.

A bail hearing was not held during Friday's Okotoks court appearance.

Symbalisty has been remanded in custody pending a March 4 appearance in Alberta Court of Justice Didsbury.
