CARSTAIRS - Members of the Carstairs Nature Space were honoured with an award recently during the recent International Society of Arboriculture Prairie Chapter conference in Olds.

Mitch Miller, Charlie Van Arnam, Bob Peel and John Ing, all with the Carstairs Nature Space committee, accepted the Gold Leaf Award for Landscape Beautification during the group's 2023 conference this month.

Arborists, urban foresters and tree Care experts from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba met for the conference, which saw members of the Carstairs Nature Space committee speak to about 200 attendees.

To date more than 3,500 trees have been planted, benches and picnic tables have been placed along walkways and the new outdoor meeting place has been completed at the Nature Space on Carstairs’ southside.

Volunteers wrapped up the season by planting another 25 trees on Nov. 1.
