Mountain View Food Bank and Innisfail Food Bank got a belated Christmas gift on Dec. 27: a cheque for $5,358 from Tim Hortons.

That figure represents 100 per cent of the proceeds from coffee and hot chocolate sales Dec. 24 at the two Tim Hortons locations in Olds as well as others in Didsbury, Sundre and Innisfail.

Mountain View Food Bank director Pat Graham says it's her understanding that normally, those restaurants just give coffee and hot chocolate away on that day, but this year, the company decided to charge for those beverages and give the money to the food bank.

"It's really, really good. We appreciate it very much," she says.
