Suspects who held up the Sundre Motor Inn at gunpoint on New Year's Eve left staff unharmed but managed to flee with several thousand dollars.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 the Sundre RCMP detachment received a report that the establishment had been robbed at gunpoint.

"Staff reported that two males entered the premise and demanded money with a third person waiting in a dark coloured SUV outside," said a press release.

Although the employees were shaken up by the incident, police said there were no reports that anyone was physically harmed during the heist.

However, the robbers ó both described as male ó got away with several thousand dollars. They were reportedly wearing dark blue snowsuits with hoods and their faces were also covered, possibly by bandanas. The men spoke fluent English with no hint of an accent, and were last seen fleeing the scene in the suspect vehicle heading east on Highway 27 towards Olds, said police.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to contact the Sundre RCMP detachment at 403-638-3675. Alternatively, callers can reach Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). All information provided will be kept confidential, and any leads that result in an arrest, recovery of stolen property, seizure of illegal drugs or the location of the wanted persons could be rewarded.
