Special path to greatness

Life often throws its curveballs at us, doesn't it?

Have you ever come across a person who just seems to have the right things to say when you need to hear it?

They have that awesome gift of encouragement. People like that put wind in your sails to help you sail on.

Recently, I was reading a devotional by Chuck Swindoll regarding God doing great things in our lives.

There is a story told about some wealthy businessmen, who back in 1923, held major stocks in the steel industry; Wall Street tycoons, that sort of thing.

Over the span of the next 25 years, sadly for these men, money may have bought many material things, but one thing they could not buy was happiness. Unfortunately, two of the businessmen committed suicide, two others served time for embezzlement and misconduct, and another died owing a great amount of debt. By the world's standards these men were viewed as successful, however, their lives ended in moral, financial and personal bankruptcy.

I am not saying that great wealth is the root of all evil, but the love of money is. The love of money often causes people to do the craziest things and as the old saying goes, “Only time will tell,” and “be sure our sins will find us out.”

As Swindoll discusses in an article regarding God doing great things in our lives, “Each day offers a God-given opportunity to plunge in, participate, develop our character by His grace for the time He has determined” for each of us.

When we offer our lives to God He will answer; He does have a great plan for every life yielded to Him.

Moses is a great example of what God can do when we submit to Him. He came up with all the excuses in the world like: “I don't have the answers, what if they don't respect me, God I just don't have the strength or ability to do the task you ask of me,” and finally he says, “I'm not qualified and there are others more qualified than I.” Sound familiar?

God is not through doing great things through you, so never give up on God yourself, the church even, and may I suggest, don't be anxious for tomorrow, for you do not know what the day may bring (Prov.27:1), and just think, what if God chooses you to do something great?
