Change brings opportunity and celebration. The Wild Rose Medical Centre will be saying farewell to two physicians this fall and is actively recruiting new physicians to join our community.

Dr. Johann Van Der Vyver has celebrated eight years of practice in Olds at the Wild Rose Medical Centre. In August he will be retiring from primary practice. However, he will continue to provide medical services focusing on skin-related medical conditions at the DermaNuva office. Dr. Van Der Vyver will also participate in the medical services of the Primary Care Network, Peaks to Prairie; and will continue to provide anesthesia and emergency room services at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre.

After celebrating a decade of primary care practice in Olds, Dr. Deon Vorster will also be resigning his position at the Wild Rose Medical Centre as of September. Dr. Vorster has enjoyed working in our community, both providing services at the clinic, in the community and at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre.

We would like to wish doctors Van Der Vyver and Vorster, and their families, the very best in their future endeavours. We thank them for their medical services in primary care over the past 10 years in Olds, and appreciate their leadership and medical contributions to our community.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Nico Marais of Red Deer to Olds, who will be starting his permanent practice in Olds on July 1, 2014, specializing in gynecology.

Over the next six months there will be a number of new temporary physicians in our clinic, evaluating our community and facilities for the longer term. These are doctors who provide services on a temporary basis without taking regular patients/clients. As you meet our temporary physicians, welcome them, show them some Olds Fashioned hospitality, and make them feel at home.

The Physician Attraction and Retention Committee is extremely busy showing new physicians our community. The Wild Rose Medical Centre is actively recruiting new physicians to practise in our community, as we recognize that there is a significant demand for more physician services. The community physicians hope that some of these new medical graduates will choose to make Olds their new hometown.
