Letter: Don’t automatically believe what you hear, read

Letter writer gives bottom line in letter to the Albertan
opinion

Re: Letter: We need to be better informed

I agree with the author. Get informed by doing research into what he says about climate change. He mentions two individuals to bolster his claims that climate change is bogus.

However, neither gentlemen is an expert on climate change. Steve Koonin, an engineer, proposed creating an “adversarial committee” to counter the scientific studies done by scientists from around the world.

Both men have been criticized for their “pseudoscience” positions against climate change and for their anti-environmental positions by the scientific community. Mr. Patrick Moore is and has been a consultant for the logging industry and a lobbyist for energy companies.

Bottom line: Don’t automatically believe what you hear or read is true, especially from people who are not “experts” and who may have “agendas”.

After all, we heard anti-vaxxers claim, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the virus was a hoax. That vaccines led to autism. The disease was created by liberals, commies, Asians, Hispanics, migrants, etcetera to undermine our freedoms.

Some anti-vaccine folks claimed the COVID-19 could be cured by drinking cleaning solutions or by taking horse medications. Hee-haw!
