Dear Editor

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 would like to take this opportunity to thank the community of Olds for the wonderful support of the poppy campaign.

This has been our best campaign. To date, we have collected in excess of $21,000.

These funds in the past have supported our veterans and the community.

For example, we have donated money to the Veterans Food Bank and we support veterans' family medical needs.

The Olds Hospital and Care Centre has been given equipment that is necessary for the seniors and the community. The Mount View Lodge has benefitted also.

Others that have received money via the poppy fund include the Air Cadets and Army Cadets as well as the Outward Bound program.

We also provide parking passes for the community at hospitals in Calgary.

In addition, we have purchased wheelchairs for community use.

Poppy campaign funds enable us to invite the Colonel Belcher veterans to the legion branch twice a year for a meal and comradeship.

The Remembrance Day poppy poem and essay program in schools is also supported through these funds.

These funds are well used and the support we got this year will enable us to provide more care for our veterans and the community.

We would like to thank the community for coming out and supporting our service on Nov. 11. To those who also attended the cenotaph service, thank you. We would also like to thank the schools for the wonderful Remembrance Day ceremonies they held.

In addition, we wish to thank the RCMP for attending the Remembrance Day services and for their support at the cenotaph and in the schools.

We would like to invite you to the branch for some comradeship. If you are interested in volunteering for the legion, we welcome your help.
