Legion president says thanks for support

Dear Editor, On behalf of all legion members, we would like to thank you for helping us with a vigil we held on Oct. 25 at the cenotaph in Olds' Centennial Park.

Dear Editor, On behalf of all legion members, we would like to thank you for helping us with a vigil we held on Oct. 25 at the cenotaph in Olds' Centennial Park. We regret that this was a last-minute effort to honour soldiers who were killed October 20 and 22. To those who attended, thank you very much. To those who would have attended if there was more notice, thank you for thinking about these men who lost their lives.

On behalf of all legion members, we would like to thank you for helping us with a vigil we held on Oct. 25 at the cenotaph in Olds' Centennial Park.

We regret that this was a last-minute effort to honour soldiers who were killed October 20 and 22. To those who attended, thank you very much. To those who would have attended if there was more notice, thank you for thinking about these men who lost their lives.

On Oct. 31, we started our annual poppy campaign. We ask for your support so that we may continue to support our veterans and their families. Some of the monies collected help support the air cadets. We have also used the money to purchase equipment for the local hospital.

This past week, as one of the members of our executive was canvassing for wreath sales, a gentleman came up to her on the street and explained that his dad was a Canadian who served in the United States.

He then explained that he wants all veterans to know that he and all Canadians stand behind our veterans and military; that we appreciate what they have done and are doing for our country and the world. He then handed her a donation of $100.

This is the kind of support that the legion gets from the community and I would like to thank everyone who has helped the legion in its efforts to support our veterans and our community.

Thank you from all the veterans and their families.

Linda Anderson
