It's our duty to honour vets' sacrifices

During Veterans Week, it is our duty as Canadians to honour the sacrifices and contributions of the men and women who served our country.

During Veterans Week, it is our duty as Canadians to honour the sacrifices and contributions of the men and women who served our country. Our veterans are ordinary people who have accomplished extraordinary things in order to protect our values of liberty, democracy and the rule of law. As the member of parliament for Red Deer, I have met with veterans and their families on numerous occasions. During these encounters, I have always assured them that the primary goal of our government is to provide our veterans with the best possible care.

Since 2006, our Conservative government has taken action to ensure our nation’s heroes receive the care and support they deserve. We have made significant enhancements to the New Veterans Charter, we created the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman and we doubled the number of Operational Stress Injury clinics. Our government has delivered on behalf of our veterans and our men and women in uniform.

Our government will continue to stay the course and provide our veterans with the support they need when they need it. Veterans are our nation’s truest heroes. They served our country with pride and conviction. On Remembrance Day, Canadians will observe a moment of silence in honour of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Lest we forget.
