In the community of Olds and surrounding area, many of us are aware and touched by the recent downturn in the economy. For people personally affected by this, it can be especially hard at Christmastime.
TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a non-profit group that does not do fundraising. However, during a recent meeting of our chapter, we discussed how the downturn is affecting our community.
As a group, we decided to donate $100 to the Mountain View Food Bank because the need during the past few months has grown, with more people in our community in need of assistance.
We would also like to challenge other groups that meet in the community but don't normally donate to think about what they could also do to assist during this time.
No gift is too small.
