Following the screening of a documentary focused on the Lauridsen family's concerns over fracking on and around their property in Rosebud (for the full story, look to next week's Mountain View Gazette) some of the roughly 40 people in attendance asked what the family intends to do next.

Fiona Lauridsen told the gathering the best course of action is to spread the word about the science and concerns surrounding fracking, a process by which drills and chemicals are used to extract different types of fuel from the earth.

Journalists cover many meetings where people in attendance ask what they can do and often the response given out is to open the lines of communication and find ways to share ideas or concerns.

One of the best ways to do this is through letters to the editor.

The Olds Albertan's editorial page is a forum for new ideas, opinions and exchanging thoughts.

We encourage the community to use this space in the newspaper to communicate, connect, complain and share.

Whenever you feel the need to engage the community, please put your thoughts to paper and submit your letters to the Olds Albertan at [email protected].

Your ideas, printed in black and white, might just spark the kind of change you want to see in the world.
