Public speaking, riding clinics and visiting seniors. We've done a lot this past month!

First of all, a big congratulations to our member Leslee Leischner, as she is moved on to the Regional Public Speaking Competition at New Norway on March 20 and came in second place. Leslee also came in first place at our club, zones and district level public speaking competitions. Her speech is titled The Good Old Days. Great job, Leslee!

On Feb. 17, we visited and played bingo with the seniors at Innisfail's Autumn Glen Lodge. We love listening to stories and answering questions about our projects and activities that we do in 4-H. It's always a fun time. Thanks to Autumn Glen for having us at the lodge again!

We also participated in a two-day riding clinic at the Horse in Hand Ranch near Blackfalds on March 5 and 6.

We had various clinicians come and put on sessions so we could learn lots of information and riding techniques. Tralauney Thomas, an equine chiropractor, showed us proper saddle fitting and stretches for our horses. Lane Moore provided us with information on hoof health. We also had various riding classes with instructors Amy Cameron, Tammy Rose and Taylor Rose.

The clinic was organized by the West Central Wranglers 4-H Club, Ponoka Renegade Riders, Red Deer 4-H Horsemen, and Rangeland Multiclub.

Thank you to Horse in Hand Ranch and all of the organizers for a fantastic weekend. I know I learned a lot of very useful information about my horse and how to become a better rider. It was also a great weekend to spend time with members from other clubs.

I bet you're wondering what exciting things we have planned for the next month! I will keep you posted.

Abby Jackson is the club reporter for the West Central Wranglers 4-H Club.
