Olds College's women's volleyball team was swept by Briercrest College in their weekend matches from November 28-29.

The eighth-ranked Clippers visited the Ralph Klein Centre and took the first match 3-2.

They followed up the next day with another road victory, this time 3-0.

"We can play better, execute better," said Broncos assistant coach Nick Davies, whose team drops to 8-4 on the season.

Broncos setter Jamie Craig led the way with 22 assists, 12 digs and a block to earn the player-of-the-game honour for her team.

Clippers outside hitter Samantha Zacharias had 14 kills, three service aces, 11 digs and two blocks in the win.

There were two times in the match when the Broncos dominated the play and appeared to be on the cusp of seizing momentum.

Down 21-14 late in the first set, the Broncos went on a 6-1 run to close the Clippers' lead to two.

However, Briercrest closed out the set, winning it 25-21.

The Broncos then opened the second set with a 10-5 lead. Briercrest took control of the set after the Clippers fought to tie the score at 13.

Olds College fended off two Briercrest setpoints but not the third, losing 27-25.

Davies admitted the team felt deflated afterward, going into the third.

"Volleyball's tough like that, especially when you go back and forth. One team goes up and it's tied. You go up and it's tied," he said.

"The last two weekends really show the level that you have to maintain to stay with those top teams."

The Clippers led from start to finish in the third set, winning 25-15, taking the match.

All Broncos teams will break for the semester and Davies said it will be a welcome hiatus after a heavy schedule to start the season.

He said the team will take some time to "decompress" as well as play a couple of exhibition matches.
