The Christmas lights are up on main street in Bowden, but eventually they're going to have to be replaced, due to wear and tear plus age, Mayor Robb Stuart says.

That topic arose during the regular Bowden town council meeting this past week.

Chief administrative officer Andy Weiss pointed out the lights are up on main street.

“They're awesome,” said Coun. Sandra Gamble.

“We're slowly running out of Christmas lights,” Stuart said.

Gamble agreed.

“Yeah,” she said, “I see there aren't as many as there used to be. One of these days we're going to have to break down and invest in a few at a time.”

“They're getting pretty threadbare,” Stuart said.

Weiss indicated he's working on replacing them.

“That is a line item in the budget,” he said.

Gamble stressed that due to cost considerations, those lights will have to be replaced “slowly.”
