All is set for the annual Midnight Madness promotion in Uptowne Olds this Friday, Nov. 18.

Members of the Uptowne Old committee finalized the details during a meeting in town council chambers this past Wednesday.

The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Olds High School students will be entertaining shoppers and browsers.

“They're going to be singing and playing instruments and entertaining,” Uptowne co-coordinator Debbie Ohlauson says.

Also starting at 6 p.m. members of the Olds Grizzlys junior A hockey team will be greeting people as they go into various businesses.

At 7:30 p.m., members of the Olds Community Choir will be gathering in front of Jensen's Men's Wear to entertain people.

Olauson told committee members that six pop-up businesses are also expected to be set up.

There'll be LOTS of hotdogs on hand.

Uptowne committee members were told that due to a miscalculation by a former employee of a local business, 1,300 packages of hotdogs were ordered instead of 1,300 hotdogs.

There was lots of laughter and joking about that.

“I have been delivering hotdogs from Okotoks to Ponoka for the last week to any (business) that will take them,” committee member Emily Clayton said.

“We still have several thousand packages of hotdogs. So if you need more hotdogs for your barbecues give me a call,” she added with a smile.

Tasty Thai manager Garnet Greipel jokingly suggested free hotdogs could be an extra incentive for businesses to become Uptowne members.

That sparked some laughter.
