1940 – 2024
Mr. Allen Lee Traxel was born in Schuler, Alberta on March 7, 1940, and graduated to the big basketball court in Heaven on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the age of 84 years.
He spent his whole life teaching and coaching, starting in Milk River, Alberta at 19 years old. Allen taught for thirty-five years in Calgary, Alberta and then moved on to Korea, Ecuador, Northern Alberta and finished in Northern Saskatchewan. His true passion was basketball. Allen coached hundreds of kids, boys and girls of all ages. He last coached his grandson at the age of 82 years.
Allen was loved by his students and players through his sense of humor. They all felt that they were special and his favorite. He truly loved watching his grandkids play sports and went to as many games as possible. Allen was generous with his time and money. He will be missed by his family, friends and his countless students and players.
Allen is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Traxel of Innisfail, Alberta, his two sons, Andrew (Kelly) Traxel of Calgary, Alberta, Brent (Angela) Traxel of Kamloops, British Columbia, his daughter, Rena (Bill) Boudreau of Onoway, Alberta. He will also be deeply missed by his eight grandchildren, Luca, Lila, Nash, Drew, Octavius Traxel, Maurina Boudreau, Milan, Jonah Haugrud and his sister, Carolyn Laurin-Traxel of Calgary, Alberta.
Allen is predeceased by his son, Jamie Traxel, his brother, Richard Traxel and his parents, John and Irene Traxel.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5698 55 Ave Crescent, Innisfail, Alberta on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made to KidSports Canada at kidsportscanada.ca.
