October 13, 1958 ~ April 10, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our matriarch and heart of our family, Michele Thompson, of Leduc, AB, on April 10, 2021, at the age of 62 years old, in Edmonton, AB.

Michele was born on October 13, 1958 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Victor and Beverley Brodoway and from an early age it was easy to see what her life theme would be. Michele was a nurturer, and “Mama” to all. As the eldest of four, she helped care for her siblings until she met and married the love of her life David Thompson in 1980. Michele started a family of her own soon after, raising 2 daughters in which she instilled the core values of family and unconditional love. Michele was a mastered homemaker until her passing and selflessly devoted herself to her family. She made her house a warm and inviting home always with “the coffee on”.  Michele’s most cherished role however, was that of “Gramma”. Her two grandsons were her pride and joy. She was a Gramma like no other, a constant in their life always. They had a deep and special bond that will be treasured always. Michele was well known for her love of coffee, sassy remarks, generous heart, incredible organizational skills, infinite love for her family, and her big brown eyes that would draw you in and feel like a warm hug. Michele was an empath, always wanting to help and comfort others. She will be remembered for her “Ukrainian Baba” style meals, always wanting to feed and take care of those around her. Michele was admired for her unwavering strength, perseverance, and commitment to family. Michele was a mother figure to all who knew and had the honour of meeting her, and she will be dearly missed and forever loved.

Michele leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 40 years, David Thompson; daughter Lisa Lenyk (Quentin); grandsons Kai and Noah Lenyk, all of Leduc, AB. Michele is also survived by mother Beverley Brodoway of Abbotsford, BC; father-in-law Glen Thompson of Didsbury, AB; her siblings, Ken Brodoway (Lynette) of Brooks, AB; Kristan Brodoway (Reid) of Abbotsford, BC; Michael Brodoway (Danica) of Devon, AB; sisters-in-law Rory Wolf (Tim) of Spruce Grove, AB and Terry Russell (Gary) of Didsbury, AB; brother-in-law Cam Thompson (Bev) of Medicine Hat, AB; and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Michele was predeceased and now reunited with her beloved daughter Cara Thompson, her dear father Victor Brodoway, mother-in-law Gwyneth Thompson, and nephew Wacey Brodoway.

A celebration of life and interment will take place at a later date once COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.

If family and friends so desire, donations can be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, AB or the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Michele’s honour.
