1929 – 2024

Mr. Job ‘Jake’ Teuling of Bowden, Alberta passed away at the Innisfail Healthcare Centre, with loving family by his side on Monday, January 30, 2024, at the age of 95 years.

Job was born in Almkerk, Netherlands on January 12, 1929. He attended Almkerk school from 1935 to 1942, then attended Agriculture College in Andel, Netherlands. He met his wife of seventy-two years when Antonia moved to Almkerk to live with her grandparents. It was a 10-year friendship first, as they were married in Picture Butte, Alberta on June 29, 1951

In 1948, Canada beckoned, and Job immigrated to Canada with his family. His first job in Canada was working in the sugar beet fields in Picture Butte, Alberta followed by employment with the CP Rail. Then he worked for a dairy farmer in the Simons Valley area before establishing their own farm in Bowden, Alberta, where they raised eight children. Job also worked in and owned his own concrete construction company for over 25 years.

Job enjoyed his retirement years with Antonia, relishing travel, reading, and most importantly, spending time on their farm, relaxing on the back patio. Job took immense pride in saying he married an amazing woman and would move mountains for her if he could. With eight children, sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and many others they considered family, their lives were vibrant. They were at birthday celebrations and family holiday gatherings. We would be remiss in not including hockey games, concerts, baseball games, and many other events.

Job loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them and was happy to see them grow up to be respectable young adults. Each of them will carry the behaviors and values that their Grandfather modeled and taught.

Job will be lovingly remembered by his wife Antonia Teuling, their children, Annie Teuling, Ron Teuling, his children, Rick and spouse Cheryl Teuling, their children, Margaret and husband Uilke deBoer, their children, Mary Teuling, Ken and spouse Gayle Teuling, and their child, along with great grandchildren and many other extended family.

Job was predeceased by two sons, John Teuling and Robert Teuling and his siblings Klaska Teuling, Albertus Teuling and Carol Hengst.

A Funeral Service will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church of Red Deer, 16 McVicar Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.  If desired, Memorial Donations in Job’s honor may be made to the Innisfail Health Centre, which provided exceptional care to Dad in his final years at 5023 42 Street, Innisfail, Alberta, T4G 1A9.
