SCARROTT, Reg

Posted

1941-2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Reginald Scarrott. Reg passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 8th, 2022 at Red Deer Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Reg was 80 at the time of his passing.

Reg was born in Olds, AB to Thomas and Vida Scarrott. Reg spent most of his childhood helping on the farm surrounded by extended family. Inspired by his lifelong desire to take things apart and see how things work, Reg went to SAIT for Mechanics. After graduating he spent time in Red Deer where he began dating Elizabeth Leslie.

Reg and Betty were married July 29, 1967 settling back in Olds. During this time Reg worked at the Olds Massey Ferguson dealership until joining Olds College as an instructor in Agricultural Mechanics.

Reg retired from Olds College after 35 years, having worked with some of the most outstanding people who became lifelong friends. Reg and Betty built a new home at Eagle Hill which they enjoyed throughout their retirement. Reg thoroughly enjoyed camping and travelling but his real passion was wood working.

Reg was always willing to share his knowledge or to lend a hand to any friends or family in need.

Reg is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty, his brother Len and Terry Scarrott, his brother-in-law Jim and Norma Leslie, his children Les and Jean Scarrott, Dan and Cindee, Ron and Brandee and his grandchildren Abigail, Whitney, Sarah, Dean, Victoria, Caitlin, and Genavieve and numerous other extended family and valued friends.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to Red Deer Hospice Society or Olds & District Hospice Society.
