Posted

NOVEMBER 8, 1934 – DECEMBER 11, 2019

Ron Menard passed away peacefully at the farm near Olds Alberta on December 11, 2019.  He was born in Shaunavon, Sask. on November 8, 1934.  He was pre-deceased by his parents Lizzie and Victor Menard, his sisters and brothers, Florence Smith, Joanne Moore, Abbie Menard, Doug Menard and Lydia the mother of his children.

His love of hockey started in Shaunavon and went on to the Moose Jaw Canucks and the Red Deer Rustlers. In later years he concentrated more on his family and hockey was sidelined for a while.  After moving to the farm he started playing for the Old Timers and had many travels with them from Hawaii to Mexico.

Ron worked in automotive sales in Red Deer, Calgary and Red Deer again in 1976 when he moved to the farm with Helen Dodd.  He later worked for Stauffer Electric In Olds, but at that point he had so many illnesses that he became unable to work away, but never complained.  He then helped with whatever he could on the farm, mowing all the grass and running for parts.  He loved helping and teaching all the grandchildren everything from golf to hockey, He was affectionately known as G.R.

He leaves to mourn his family, his loving partner Helen Dodd, Sandra Sawkins, Guy Menard, Dale Dodd & Bruce Dodd.  Grand children Ryan (Breanne), Amber, Lindsay, Courtney, Tessa and Tanner. Great grandchildren Aria and Claira.

His wishes were to donate his body to science, no funeral.
