1933 - 2020

Glen was born to Hulda and Eli Nussbaum in Kidron, Ohio April 11, 1933, the youngest of eight children.  Glen grew up on a farm in Kidron and during the Korean War served in I-W civilian service at City Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio where he met his wife, Dorothy Dawson.  They were married in Medina, Ohio September 30, 1955.

Glen went on to become an electrical engineer and estimator and worked in Cleveland, Ohio until he retired in June 1997.  At this time, he and Dorothy moved to Didsbury, Alberta where they lived for 15 years before moving to Olds for the last eight years.

Glen’s love of the Lord and his family was always first place in his life.  He’s held many church offices and has been a youth leader, Sunday School teacher and small group leader for many years. He has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Olds for 17 years.  He’d had two previous strokes but one on January 11, 2020 left him with left sided paralysis and wheelchair bound.  After being in Red Deer Hospital, Olds Hospital and Hanna Continuing Care, he was finally moved to Didsbury Hospital Continuing Care on October 14, 2020. It was there that he passed away suddenly and peacefully on December 23, 2020 at 87 years of age.

When asked by the therapist one day what his goal in life was, he said, “to be a good Dad”.  He definitely achieved that goal and was a loving husband for 65 years.  We are all looking forward to the day when we can stroll around Heaven together.

Glen is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy; six children Glenda (Tim) Stephenson of Fort Meyers, Florida, Gail (Nick) Colgrove of Berea, Ohio, Barbara (Ken) Hazelton of Three Hills, Rebecca (Perry) Sundberg of Didsbury, Elizabeth (Gary) Wiens of Didsbury and Bruce (Diane) Nussbaum of Didsbury; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister Esther Neuenschwander of Orville, OH.

He is predeceased by his parents; three sisters Celesta Steiner, Lorene Nussbaum and Orpha Neuenschwander; three brothers Aldis, Willis and Clayton and one great-grandchild Corban Lammiman.  A private family service was held and interment followed in the Olds Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to Compassion Canada.  Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with arrangements. 403-507-8610  Condolences may be made or viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
