Edward John (Ted) Norris, Dip.S.S., B.A., M.Div., of Red Deer, AB, passed away peacefully at the RD Hospital on Feb. 28, 2021.

Ted was born in Hamilton, Ont., to Charles and Emily Norris, on Jan. 16, 1947. He grew up in Preston (now Cambridge) Ont., and attended Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and Emmanuel College in Toronto. In 1971 he married Margaret Sinclair of Ontario, and in 1976 was ordained to the pastoral ministry of the United Church of Canada, serving churches in Chesley & Dobbinton, Ont.; Faro, Yukon; and Bowden, Betchton, Dewberry & Islay, AB. In 1989 he became a member of the Congregational Christian Churches of Canada, and served Christ Congregational Fellowship in Innisfail AB, later forming Mercy Ministries. In 2003, he married Susan Hearne of Australia, and thereafter served under Potter’s Hands Ministries in Red Deer.

Ted is survived by his wife, Sue; his children Christine (Chad) Williamson of Surrey, B.C., Cragg (Janna) Norris of Olds, Joanna (Aaron) Sheppard of Red Deer, Rebecca Orr of Olds, Theresa (David) Trotter of Olds, and Helena (Brenden) Peters of Boyle AB; their mother Meg Sinclair of Olds; his brother Robert and sister Louise (Bitsy) and children in Ontario; stepdaughters Misty (David) Lenihan of Australia and Melody (Tony) Griegg of Australia; and 21 wonderful grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, infant son William (1993), son-in-law Lance Orr (2009), brother-in-law Phil Butler (2009), and nephew Damian Butler (2013).
