We are sad to announce the passing our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Theo Niessen, on March 17th, 2024

Theo was born in Medicine Hat, AB and passed away at home in Carstairs, AB at the age of 93.

She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Joseph (Joe) Niessen on January 1, 2021.  She missed him terribly and we take comfort in knowing that she is reunited and happy to be with him again.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Ronda) Niessen of Carstairs, AB and daughter, Sheelah (Fred) Rice of Glenwood, AB.  Also, her grandchildren Jessica Niessen, Randy (Devin) Niessen, Nicole (Tim) Grochowich, Justine (Rustin) Peters, Kimberly (Darren) Rice, Hunter (Brandon) Rice and her great grandsons, Nixon and Cohen Grochowich.

She is also survived by her brother, Len (Lorraine) Friedenberg and sister Karen (Don) Fulgham, sister-in-law Anne Friedenberg, as well as her special friend, Betty Kelsey and countless family and friends.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter Angela Niessen, parents William Friedenberg, Wilhelmina (Wutzke) Friedenberg and stepmother Anne Friedenberg as well as her siblings, Ewald Friedenberg, Karl (Beryl) Friedenberg, Valeda (Merril) Gelderich, Ruben Friedenberg, Lillian (Allan) Collins and Emma (Fred) Mehrer.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 12th, 2024, at 1pm at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church, 802 Hwy 582, Didsbury, AB.  For those who will be unable to attend, the service will be available on-line on the Zion Evangelical website.  Luncheon will be served immediately following the Celebration.

Although for us and her loved ones, this is a sad time, for mom it was a day that she was ready for.  She wanted us to celebrate and rejoice, knowing she was with her beloved Joe again.  In keeping with her wishes, please wear bright, cheerful colors.

When all my labors and trails are over,

And I am safe on that beautiful shore,

Just to be near the dear Lord I adore

Will through the ages be glory for me.

When by the gift of His infinite grace,

I am accorded in heaven a place,

Just to be there and to look on His face

Will through the ages be glory for me.

Friends will be there I have loved long ago;

Joy like a river around me will flow;

Yet just a smile from my Savior, I know,

Will through the ages be glory for me.
