1938 – 2023

Mrs. Lorna Jean Loomis of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at the Innisfail Health Care Centre on January 20, 2023 at the age of 84 years.

Lorna was born and raised in Bentley, Alberta. She married Bill Johannson in 1958 and moved to Markerville, where she helped with the farming and drove into Innisfail to work at the Bank of Nova Scotia. Bill and Lorna raised their two children in the Markerville area.

In 1989 she married Stan Loomis and moved to Caroline. In 2004 she moved back to Innisfail where she lived until her passing. Lorna was very active in the communities where she lived. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, crocheting, quilting, camping and traveling, but when curling started she was found cheering on her favorite teams and discussing the results with her close circle of friends. She also had a great love of music.

Lorna will be loving remembered by her daughter Wanda (Glen) Moore of Okotoks; son Darcy (Cathy) Johannson of Red Deer, step daughter Janet (Larry) Hanson of Caroline, step son Arden Loomis of Caroline, brother Dick Damron of Bentley; sisters-in-law, Goya Damron of Bentley, Lorrie Damron of Vernon, British Columbia and Marie Sveinson of Markerville; brother in law Jerry Loomis of Edmonton, her grandsons, Jason (Jana) Moore of Calgary, Scott (Jackie) Moore of Parkland County and Brandon Hanson of Caroline; two great grandsons, Malcolm and Ian Moore of Calgary; nieces and nephews and so many wonderful and special friends.

Lorna was predeceased by her parents N.T. and Mabel Damron, her husband, Stan Loomis, and her former husband Bill Johannson, brothers, Bob Damron, Howard Damron, brother in law Ken Sveinson and brother and sister in law Art and Marge McAllister, sister in law Almena (Doll) Dowling, brother and sister in laws Bill and Margaret Patterson, Ed and Yvonne Loomis, brother in law Gordie Loomis and grandson Deveron Hanson.

A special thank you to Dr. Chauhan and the Palliative Care staff of the Innisfail Health Care Centre for the care and compassion shown to Mom and her family in her final days. Thank you to the Doctors and staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. A sincere thank you to Innisfail Home Care who sent angels to Mom’s door many times a day. We couldn’t have kept Mom at home as long as we did without you. And finally, to Dr Tse whose guidance throughout this journey has been so very much appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with a private interment at the Bentley Cemetery.
