August 7, 1940- January 22, 2024

It is with much love that we mourn the passing of Bertha Krause of Bowden on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 83 years old after a courageous battle over the last 3 years with vascular issues. She will be dearly missed by her daughters Jeanette (Ron) Parker, Joanne (Carl) Miller and Jackie Parker, daughter-in-law Mel Serafini, stepchildren Cheryl (Will), Les (Darlene), Kevin (Brenda), foster children Michael (Olene) Taylor and Heather Deeth.  Her grandchildren Billie-Jean, David (Joy), Walter (Annette), Joey (Crystal), Erica (Tim), Erin, Jeff, Keenan, Jessica and Jim.  As well as 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Good friend and sister-in-law Marilyn Hutchinson and Betty Sluth.  Brother-in-law Jim (Shelley) Krause, Aunt Marie Jacobson, close friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bertha is predeceased by her first husband Walter, brothers Richard and Henry, second husband Ken (2004), son John, grandson Christopher and many other relatives and in-laws.

Bertha was born to Henry and Germaine Hutchinson in Blairmore, Alberta and moved to Fernie, BC at an early age where she grew up and met her first husband Walter and raised her four children. After losing Walter in a tragic mining accident, she continued to raise her children on her own until she met Ken and moved to Calgary in 1973 where they joined families. They purchased the farm near Bowden, Alberta in 1978 where she lived happily until the end.

Everyone who knew Bertha knew her ability to work hard, her green thumb, her love for animals, her delicious home cooked meals, her plastic bag bags, her infectious smile and courageous spirit, as well as her ability to make everyone around her laugh and have a good time. She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 2:00 pm at the Bowden Event Centre.  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
