June 8, 1940 – December 19, 2023

Jacob Klimek passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in the comfort of his own home in Sherwood Park, AB. Jake was born on June 8, 1940 in Kleinlomnitz, Czechoslovakia to Samuel and Sophie Klimek. After WWII and the tragic loss of his father, the family emigrated to Vernon, B.C., where he helped to support the family. Thus, Jake happily turned away from school and became a mechanic as a young teenager, which became his life-long vocation.

Eventually, he married and was blessed with three children. In 1980, they moved to Olds, AB where Jake inadvertently added chicken farming to his job as a mechanic and was blessed with three more children. He treasured weekends spent with his kids at the park, followed by a movie and Pizza Hut.

Jake loved serving as a deacon at East Olds Baptist Church for about 30 years, until he moved to Edmonton to be in the care of his daughter and her family due to health issues. He never lost his sense of humor throughout; he loved to tell ‘dad’ jokes and loved laughing at his own jokes even more! He was a true prayer warrior who included everyone he loved in his daily prayers. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends, and those left to mourn will be comforted by cherished memories of him.

He was predeceased by his sister Susanna Schalm, and was survived by his former wife Meta (Luellau) Klimek, and his six children: Christine (Bertrand) Bickersteth of Calgary, AB, James (Sheila) Klimek of Crossfield, AB, Carol (Gordon) Buzikevich of Sherwood Park, AB, Matthew (Nicole) Klimek of Red Deer, AB, Candice (Jessy) Mayne of Huxley, AB, Caitlin (Landon) Becker of Medicine Hat, AB; he is also survived by 14 grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at East Olds Baptist Church. The service will also be available on-line. Park Place Funeral Home Chapel & Crematorium, Sherwood Park. 780-417-8000.
