Clara Duncafe 90

January 31, 1931 - January 7, 2022

The family of Clara Bernice Duncalfe wish to announce the peaceful passing of their beloved mom into the arms of her Savior on January 7 2022, 3 weeks short of her 91st birthday.

On January 31, 1931, Clara was born to Heinrich and Amanda Laible in Winnipegosis MB where she grew up. She was the youngest of 6 children. When she was 19, Clara married her sweetheart, Ernest Duncalfe, in Dauphin MB on June 27, 1950. A year later, Clara made the decision to follow Christ and was baptized shortly after. They had 4 of their children in MB.

Clara and Ernie decided to move to the Abbotsford BC area in 1955 where they lived for 11 years before moving to Enderby BC. They added 4 more children to the family during these years. In 1973 they made another big move to Carstairs AB where Ernie purchased a business called RE Tire and Motors. Clara did the books for the shop. She always considered her job as wife and mother her priority but was also very involved in teaching Sunday school, bible studies and kids clubs at church. In 1984 Ernie retired from the shop and they moved to Deer Valley Meadows Bible Camp at Alix AB. It was here that Clara lost her life partner, Ernie, leaving her a widow at the age of 56. She then moved back to Carstairs with son Darren. She lived a number of years on her son Rod's property before moving to Didsbury to live in her daughter Dawn's basement suite for a few more years before finally moving into Aspen Ridge Lodge, Didsbury.

Clara is survived by her sister Kate Brandt, children Val (Max) Clark, Susan Duncalfe (wife of Randy), Dawn Sayer, Rod, Sharon (Joe) Rafih, Lance (Linda), Kevin (June) and Darren (Cynthia) as well as 23 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, son Randy, grandson Shane Clark, daughter‑in‑law Karen (wife of Rod), grand‑daughter‑in‑law Tanya Sayer (wife of Graham) and son‑in‑law Walter Sayer (husband of Dawn), as well as her parents and siblings Hilda Wenger, Bill, Paul and Carl Laible.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the wonderful care given to their mom by the staff at Aspen Ridge Lodge, Didsbury, during her nearly 8 years there.

A Graveside Service was held at the Carstairs Cemetery on Friday, January 14, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Samaritans Purse or Interact Ministries (Byron and Danielle Sayer).                                                                                         Condolence may be sent to the family at www.sunsetltd.ca
