Ellen Christiansen good

March 6, 1935  - May 21, 2020

We didn’t know this day would come so fast. We didn’t have much time to say good-bye. Mom, Grandma, Miss Elly is now at rest. Ellen Beatrice Christiansen passed away, with her family by her side, on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the age of 85 years.

Ellen was born on March 6, 1935 at Rimbey, Alberta. Summer was mom’s favorite time of year.  Her biggest passion was her yard and garden.  Her garden was HUGE! The harvest was to be shared with many neighbors and family. If there was daylight, and it wasn’t raining, you would find her outside tending either to her garden, or her yard. They say some people have a green thumb; we believe she had two!  She could make anything grow. In winter, her efforts turned to baking.  She would make several dozen buns weekly, four to six pies and cookies.  Once done baking, then came the part of delivering to the neighbors.  If you stopped to say “hi”, you would be taking baking home.  THIS WASN’T AN OPTION! If you ever met mom, you most likely would remember her. She had no issue talking to complete strangers – and by the end of the conversation, she would know who you are, where you live, what you did for a living, where you came from and where you were going. Mom had a soft spot for neighbors, and strangers in need, and would ALWAYS help them, the best she could. YES, mom could be stubborn at times. The funny thing is that the stubbornness has not rubbed off on all of her children. She always called a spade a spade, and wasn’t scared to offer her opinion.  And she even went out of her way to make sure you heard her.

“Well deserved. REST in PEACE, Mom”.

Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her son, Daryl (Joanne) Sharp of Edmonton, Alberta, daughter, Betty (Jan) Nielsen of Grande Prairie, Alberta, son, Larry (Karen) Christiansen of Spruce View, Alberta, daughter, Joyce (Richard) Lorenz of Markerville, Alberta and son, Raymond (Isabelle) Christiansen of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by two brothers, Gordon (Elinor) Budd and Clifford Budd. Ellen was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph, Russell and Martin, a sister, Margaret and an infant son, Francis.
