On December 29, 2023 Dennis Alan Bowhay passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and 3 children. He was 72.


Dennis was born Sept 3, 1951 in Calgary AB. He was the second child of Gordon and Joyce Bowhay. Dennis grew up on the family dairy farm near Cochrane. He was actively involved in many activities including 4H. After graduation, Dennis moved to Calgary and started working for AGT.

There he met Donna Murphy. They married in 1973 and moved to the Sundre area. Angela was born in 1974 and John in 1976.

In 1994 Dennis moved to BC where he met the love of his life, Sandra Cavanagh. In 1995 Dennis and Sandra were married, adding another daughter Jennifer to the family. Dennis and Sandra lived in Hedley and Keremeos before settling in Penticton. Dennis was a great supporter of everything his kids decided to pursue. Being a grandparent brought immense joy into his life. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren.


Dennis is survived by his wife Sandra; kids Angela (Travis) Waddell, John Bowhay, and Jennfer Cavanagh (Chris Martens); grandchildren James, Owen, Milo, Phoebe and Sullivan; Brothers and Sisters Joe (Wanda) Bowhay, Jim (Nola) Bowhay, Sandra (Rick) Smith, Jane (Arnold) Kruger, numerous nieces and nephews.


Dennis will always be remembered for his booming voice, and hearty laugh. He touched everyone he met, and he will be missed by many. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Moog & Friends Hospice House for the incredible care Dennis received there. In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations may be made to Moog and Friends Hospice House, Penticton, BC.
