DALE BOLTON- dean

June 24, 1944 - August14, 2021

Edward Bryon Dale Bolton passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on August 14, 2021 at his residence in Sunset Manor in lnnisfail at the age of 77 years.

Dale was born June 24, 1944 in the Olds Hospital to Ted and Helen Bolton, and grew up on their farm in the Westerdale District. He attended school at Westerdale, Didsbury and Olds.

On August 6, 1965 Dale married his high school sweetheart, Greta Knorborg. Together they had one daughter Kris, and made their home in Olds.

Dale's name is well known in the Oil Patch where he worked for Parkland Oilfield Construction for 30 years, and then started his own Oilfield Consulting Company in 1994. His job took him away from home for many years. Over the period of his life, Dale was an active member in Olds Lions Club, Elks Hockey Club, and spent many years volunteering for the Royal Canadian Legion #105. While looking after Greta's mother's farm at Eagle Hill for 18 years, Dale raised Registered Quarter Horses. It became his dedicated passion, where he could often be seen having a rest in the feed trough while his horses ate their oats and nibbled on his hair. In 2000 Dale purchased the Bolton homestead farm at Westerdale, where he became an avid gardener, and was blessed with three grandsons to help him.

Dale loved holidays. For many summers he took his family, more often than not to Mara Lake in BC, where they camped at Willow Shores. They also travelled to Hawaii, Disneyland, Mexico, Alaska, England, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, and places in the US.

Dale lost most of his eyesight but he never lost his sense of humor. Whether we were picking rocks, roots or weeds, he would always say ‘You missed one".

Dale will be sadly missed, and leaves to mourn, his wife Greta of 56 years; his daughter Kris Anderson; three grandsons that became the love of his life, Rio Anderson, Jett Anderson and Kaige Anderson, many cousins, and a multitude of nieces and nephews who are proud to call him "Uncle Dale'.

Dale was predeceased by his mother, Helen Bolton in 1978, his father Ted Bolton in 1997, brother Lyle (Elizabeth) in 1997; brother Larry (Judy) in 2012; sister Marleen in 2014.

A very special thank you is extended to the Caregiving and Nursing Staff of Sunset Manor, his nurse Denisa, Dr. Chauhan, Dr. Christiansen and the staff at Innisfail Hospital. The recreation staff, Gail and Lisa; to everyone who cared for him and loved him unconditionally the last 6 years of his life; and to the many friends and family who have been a life support for our family.

Our family would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who visited Dale, phoned, said prayers, sent cards, flowers food and love.

Burial and a gathering in Dale's honor will be held at the Westerdale Cemetery and Hall on Saturday, August 21st.  at 1:00. Thank you to West View Funeral Services and Ed Stephan who are in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberta SPCA.
