1934-2020

Mr. Arthur William ‘Art’ Fox passed away suddenly on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the age of 86 years. Art was born in Cavell, Saskatchewan on January 11, 1934. In autumn of 1947, the family moved to the Bowden District of Alberta. He graduated from SAIT in Calgary, Alberta in 1955, as an Automotive Mechanic Technician; and received his Heavy Duty Diploma from Chicago Vocational Institute; and began Welding and Machinery Training in 1956. Art did mechanical repair work for his neighbors and friends (his customers) during most all his years on the farm. Art met Audrey Eileen Park from Innisfail and they were married on August 9, 1958. In 1964, Art obtained his Pilot’s License and was a longtime member of the Innisfail Flying Club. He was also instrumental in the organization of the Central Alberta Professional Mechanics Association, formed in the Innisfail District beginning in 1962. Art’s passions were many: flying, traveling, fishing, boating, spending time with friends; and he especially loved spending time at the cabin, on Takla Lake in British Columbia. It was evident that anything you could do outdoors was meaningful to Art. This is probably what contributed to Art being 86 years old, going on 19.

Another important passion in Art’s life was the fact that he was a Farmer since 1962; he loved the land that provided him everlasting pride. Art was an inspiration to us all… a legacy of kindness, warmth and smiles of unmatched proportions.

Art will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kathy (Tom) Goett and their children, Stephanie (Noe) Lemus and Mike (Maria) Goett and their family; John (Rita) Park and their children, Annette and Jason (Chantelle) as well as Shirley Kot, Gwen Park and Bernice Leavitt and their families. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Merle (Lori), Glen (Joan), his sister-in-law, Joyce Fox and all of their families; as well as Shirley Kot, Gwen Park and Berniece Leavitt and thier families, and a host of many friends, far and wide. Art will also be sadly missed by a special friend, Clara Gibson. Art was predeceased by his loving wife, Audrey, who passed away February 2, 1997, his parents, Alphonse and Vera and his brothers, Harry, Lorne and his brother in law Norman. A Funeral Service will be held at the Innisfail United Church, 4720 – 48 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Art’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation, Attention: Innisfail Health Care Centre at www.rdrhfoundation.com.
