QMJHL: Drakkar cruise past Eagles 4-0 to take 1-0 semifinal series lead

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Charles-Édward Gravel earned a 26-save shutout as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar cruised to a 4-0 win over the Cape Breton Eagles in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League playoff action on Thursday.

Raoul Boilard, Justin Poirier, Justin Gill and Louis-Charles Plourde scored for Baie-Comeau, which took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven semifinal series.

Nicolas Ruccia stopped 38 shots for Cape Breton. 

Both teams entered the series coming off second-round sweeps. The Eagles ousted the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, while the Drakkar eliminated the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Baie-Comeau came out firing with Boilard scoring the first of the team's three first-period goals just 2:17 into the frame. Plourde made it a 4-0 game at 12:46 of the second period.

Game 2 is set for Friday.
