MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The county's municipal planning commission has approved a development permit for a new microbrewery in the Hainstock area of the county.

The property involved is located about one kilometre north of the intersection of Highway 27 and Rge. Rd. 22.

The commission approved the $150,000 proposed business, contractor – microbrewery and a change of use for a portion of the existing accessory building at the site to commercial use and one onsite commercial sign.

The subject parcel is located directly west of Olds within a growth area as identified in the municipal development plan.

The 800 square foot shop will accommodate the craft microbrewery operations as well as a separate retail area.

“The business will concentrate primarily on local markets with self-distribution to local retailers, farmers markets and other small-scale distribution outlets with one commercial vehicle associated with the business,” administration said in a briefing note to the commission.

Conditions of the approval include that the business obtain applicable licenses required by Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, and that any liquid and solid waste products be disposed of in conformance with regulations.
