MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – A Sundre-area man charged following a collision in Mountain View County in December 2018 that took the life of a 39-year-old Olds man has been ordered to stand trial.

Jaylan Armstrong faces two charges: impaired driving causing death and operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level more than 80 mg per cent causing death.

Darryl Hyslop died when a pickup truck and a car collided on Highway 27 at Rge. Rd. 44 early on the morning of Dec. 15, 2018.

Armstrong was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following the early morning crash, which closed the highway for several hours.

Armstrong’s preliminary hearing was held in Didsbury provincial court last week. A publication ban prohibits reporting on evidence presented during the hearing.

During the March 10 court hearing Armstrong elected to be tried by judge and jury in Court of Queen’s Bench.

The date for his trial has not yet been set.
