All nine members of the Olds Rapids Swim Club who travelled to a meet on January 11 and 12 in Sherwood Park made at least one final event.

Terence Kelly, Jazz Thompson and Victoria Wagstaff broke club records in the 100-metre individual medley, 200-metre breaststroke and 100-metre individual medley respectively during the meet.

Kelly broke the 13-to-14 year-old record previously held by Blayze Bloomfield while Thompson broke her own record in the 11 and 12 year-old age group.

Wagstaff set a new club best in the 15-to-16 year-old category that had previously been vacant.

Kelly also won the aggregate meet award for best swimmer in his age category, winning five events that he swam in and finishing second in two others.

Kelly was also the fastest swimmer in his age category in each of the four 50-metre disciplines (freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke), when the four race times were combined together.

Dawson Green and Giselle de Guzman each finished third in the four 50-metre disciplines when all the times were combined.

Green and de Guzman each swam in the 15-and-over age category.

Club members took home a total of 25 medals from the event, including four in aggregate events.

ìEverybody made at least one final in the 50 (metres),î said Graeme Gordon, the club's coach. ìAll the swimmers that were there made the Top 10 in at least one event.î

The Rapids will next be in Red Deer on February 1 and 2.
