During the championships, Mitchell Ormann reclaimed his 800 Free club record lowering it by 30 seconds and improved on his 100 Back and 50 Fly club records.

Ormann placed 12th in 200 Fly in finals and was an alternate in 100 Back and 200 Back.

Two swimmers just missed qualifying for Provincial Trials in Sherwood Park Feb. 25 - 27 during the Black and Blue Invitational in Okotoks Feb. 6.

Maeghan Wild missed the standard by six seconds in 200 IM and Grace Wagstaff by one second in the 400 Free. They both have more chances to qualify for long course Provincial Trials in the next three months.

Jayna Templeton broke her first club record swimming the 200 Fly. She surpassed the previous record set by Wagstaff last June at the same pool.

Ormann and Blayze Bloomfield were both under the club record in 200 Breaststroke in the same race with Ormann edging out Bloomfield. Olds' swimmer of the meet went to Jazz Thompson for achieving all best times and no disqualification.

Olds had three representatives at Trials: Bloomfield, Bryce Wachtler and Hannah Lutz. Lutz had best times in 800 Free, 1500 Free, 50 and 100 Breast. She placed 6th in the 1500 Free and 10th in the 800 Free.

Wachtler narrowly missed finals in the 50 back and the 100 IM taking one second and 47 seconds off respectively.

Bloomfield earned silver in the 50 Back and finished in the top 10 in each of his events. He also swam to club records in the 800 Free and 100 IM. His times in the 50 Back and 200 Back qualify him for long course Alberta Championships in Fort McMurray on the July long weekend.

This season, eight Olds Rapids swimmers have broken 19 club records. They have also had 68 new swims on the all time Olds top 10 list of each event.
