Spartans lose heartbreaker to Didsbury

The Spartans cruised through the first two sets, winning them 25-17 and 25-15, respectively.

DHS struck back in the third and led the Spartans 17-9 at one point. The Spartans managed to claw back, tying the set at 21 before the Dragons took it 25-21.

The Dragons won the fourth set 25-17, forcing a deciding fifth.

Both teams traded points but the Dragons ultimately completed the comeback with a 15-13 win in the fifth set.

“They stayed consistent and once they got the momentum then they just kept going,” said head coach Wanda Vandervelden after the match.

“We did a lot of really good things. It always hurts a little more when we beat ourselves but there's next week and we'll get ourselves ready for zones.”
