RVS wins cross country zone banner

There were 28 students in grades 7 and 8 from River Valley School who participated in the cross-country zones, in Canmore on Oct. 9.

There were 28 students in grades 7 and 8 from River Valley School who participated in the cross-country zones, in Canmore on Oct. 9.

They received the banner for the junior high cross-country south central zone champions for the first time in at least six years, according to coach Ian Mulholland.

At the bantam boys level, Nicholas Ross placed fifth, Reid Caukill placed 15th, Lukas Kyncl placed 30th and Jaxan Savage-Howe placed 54th. Thomas Fisher placed 56th, Ben Reed placed 65th, Colton Tooth placed 72nd and Dallas Fate placed 76th.

At the bantam girls level, Tyra Wrayton placed 25th, Heidi Burrell placed 69th, Rachael Weiss placed 73rd, Holly Fisher placed 76th, Samantha Bay placed 84th and Darcey Goacher placed 99th.

At the midget girls level, Allison Robertson placed 65th, Miranda Dallman placed 69th, Nicole Green placed 72nd, Deshann Valentine placed 73rd, Cassidy Hanna placed 87th and Toni Pedersen placed 123rd.

At the midget boys level, Joel Pearce placed 27th, Landen Leipnitz placed 43rd, Chris Campkin placed 48th and Andrew Cottrell placed 60th. Dawson Courtoreille placed 65th, Aidan MacDonald placed 74th, Daniel Kamaleddine placed 76th and Matt Reed placed 99th.

As well, there were 64 athletes from Sundre High School that participated in the zones.

The results for the SHS students were not available at press time.
