Mackenzie Ramsall has been recognized provincially for her achievements in track and field.

The 15-year-old Innisfailian was nominated for Athletics Alberta's top female midget athlete (ages 14-15) for the year 2012.

While Ramsall did not receive the award, her club's head coach Darren Posyluzny said she was one of four selected and honoured for her excellence in track and field at the 2012 Athletics Alberta Annual Awards banquet held Feb. 9 in Edmonton.

Her accomplishments include top medals at local track and field meets as well as gold medal and podium finishes for high jump, long jump, triple jump and sprint relays.

The teen has competed in the Alberta Summer Games, Western Canadian Midget Track and Field Championships and was selected to Team Alberta competing at the Canadian National Youth Championships in Charlottown, P.E.I.

The same weekend she was honoured, she earned a first-place finish in youth female high jump (1.55m) at the Alberta Indoor Games. She also placed third in long jump during the same event. Her four-member 4x200m relay team finished fourth with a time of 1:54.63.

Brayden Posyluzny, her fellow Red Deer Titans Track and Field Club member as well as Innisfail resident, did well at the Alberta Indoor Games too.

Posyluzny took first place in the youth male category of the 5kg shot put competition with 11.62m.

And with 2,820 total points in pentathalon--60m hurdles, long jump, shot put, and high jump, 1000m, he finished in first place.
