Due to the success of hosting the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference curling championships in March 2013, Olds College has won the right to host the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association championships from March 24 to 28, 2015.

The event will feature eight of the best men's and eight of the best women's college teams from throughout the country. As the host, Olds College is guaranteed a spot in the championships.

ì(Last year's championships) went really well and it kind of surpassed the expectations they had for championships so we just decided to submit a bid to host the CCAA (championships),î said Nick Davies, a media programmer at Olds College.

Davies said hosting the event should bring Olds College and the community more recognition about what the college and community can do.

ìIt's great. We've had the ACAC championships in a few different sports with golf, curling, futsal last year, but this is the first kind of national recognition. We're hoping that this is the first of many (events) to come. When they see that we can deliver and host another great championship again, hopefully there will be more to follow,î he said.

Teams will arrive on March 24, 2015, and have a brief practice the following day before draw one action begins. Medal games are due to be played on March 28.
