Olds sending multiple teams, players to badminton zones

Plenty of badminton players from Olds are heading to zones tournaments in the next two weeks now that the Chinook's Edge South Athletics Association tournament has wrapped up.

Plenty of badminton players from Olds are heading to zones tournaments in the next two weeks now that the Chinook's Edge South Athletics Association tournament has wrapped up.The tournament was played at Olds High School and Deer Meadow School on April 16 and 17 and included teams and players from local communities such as Olds, Carstairs, Cremona, Didsbury and Sundre.Teams and players who placed at the tournament go to play at the Senior High Zones in Cochrane from April 26 to 27 and the Junior High Zones from May 1 to 3.A location for the junior high zones was not finalized by press time and Olds and Okotoks are being considered.In Grade 7, Olds placed first in mixed doubles, girls singles and girls doubles.Olds placed third in boys singles.In Grade 8, Olds finished second in the boys and girls singles categories.In Grade 9, Olds finished first in the girls singles and mixed doubles categories, second in the girls doubles category and third in boys singles.And the Olds Grade 10 doubles team came in second.There were no finalists for grades 11 or [email protected]
