Olds Grizzlys shut out Thursday in first game of AJHL play-in series

Game 2 of best-of-five series between Olds and Grande Prairie is on Friday, March 8

OLDS — The Olds Grizzlys got off to a tough start in the Alberta Junior Hockey League best-of-five play-in series against the Storm in Grande Prairie Thursday night.

The Grizzlys were shut out 4-0.  

The winner of the series makes it into the playoffs. The playoffs begin the weekend of March 15.

The Storm scored their first goal at 12:45 of the first period, then got two more at 2:10 and 2:33 of the second period.

They scored the fourth one at 17:27 of the final frame.

Aidan Comeau tended net for the Grizzlys. He faced 36 shots. The Grizzlys fired 33 at Storm goaltender Nicholas Jones.

The Grizzlys were blanked on the power play. The Storm were one for four with the man advantage.

The Grizzlys were tagged with six of 10 penalties handed out.

The next game in the series goes Friday, March 8 in Grande Prairie again.

Game 3 will be held Sunday, March 10 at the Sportsplex in Olds, starting at 5 p.m. If the Grizzlys push the series to a fourth game, it would also be held in Olds on Monday, March 11 at 7 p.m.

A fifth and deciding game if necessary would be held in Grande Prairie on Wednesday, March 13.
