It was a tale of two blowouts on the rugby pitch this weekend.

The Red Deer Titans First Division men's squad, as well as the Senior Ladies team, was in action Saturday, with the men in Edmonton to battle the always strong Strathcona Druids.

New Zealand native Wade Moore continued to lead the way for the Titans, scoring one try and adding three conversions, but it wasn't enough as Red Deer fell 62-26 to the Druids at Ellerslie Rugby Park.

Aaron Forsythe, Andrew Herbert and Rob Reger also chipped in with one try each for the short staffed Titans, who were without fly half Brad Reeves, who has gone back to Australia.

The Titans also learned that coach Mike Bishop will not be returning from Australia due to a family illness, meaning Moore will take over the coaching duties for the 5-5 1st Division men's team, who are back in action Aug. 21st in Calgary versus the Irish.

Despite the loss, the men did score four tries in the game, which gives them a bonus point in the standings.

The ladies team, meanwhile, got a boost in the form of the return of Shannon Court in a 72-5 win over the Rams in Calgary.

Court, who just returned from Portugal after helping the CIS National Sevens team to a fourth place finish at the World University Championships, scored four tries and added six conversions for the Titans.

Melissa Wyntjes and Emily Stearns tallied two tries each, while Chelsey Clifford, Aly Bowd, Elsie Budwill and Ursula Patterson scored single tries.

The 9-3 ladies are back in action this weekend, as league playoffs get underway.

The Under 18 Titans squads, meantime, are back in action tonight (Wednesday) down at Titans Rugby Park.

The boys battle the Edmonton Clansman 2, while the girls take on Leduc.

Both derbies start at 7 p.m.
