Olds Grizzlys captain Spencer Dorowicz gave his head coach a pretty sweet birthday present over the weekend by scoring four goals in the team's back-to-back home victories against squads from Calgary.

The team veteran scored both of the Grizzlys goals on Sept. 6 during the squad's home opener win against the Calgary Canucks and racked up a pair against the Calgary Mustangs the next night, which just happened to be Brett Hopfe's birthday.

Although Dorowicz struggled in the exhibition season, where the team went two and three, he said he and his teammates were able to pull it together over the weekend.

Part of the reason for the success, Dorowicz said, is because he received a text message before the game from Olds' Jay Rosehill who currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers.

“He said to just relax and be confident out there,” he said. “I really took that to heart and I'm just trying to let things come as they go and not force stuff and it's been working so far.”

The Canucks drew first blood on Sept. 6 thanks to a goal from Vincent Paquette at 7:53 in the first period but Grizzlys netminder Ethan Jemieff blanked Calgary for the next two frames.

Dorowicz scored Olds' premiere goals of the season at 18:38 in the second period and 18:45 in the third to give the Grizzlys a 2-1 win.

He continued his run the next night scoring at 15:06 in the first period and at 14:53 in the second.

Christopher Gerrie, Landon Kletke and Nikolas Koberstein also scored for Olds to give the Grizzlys a 5-3 victory.

The Grizzlys' next game is at Okotoks on Sept. 13 and the next home game is Sept. 17.
