Grizzlys in seven-game nosedive approaching season's end

Gerrie, 17, leads all AJHL rookies in goals, with 18, assists, with 25, and points, with 53. His 19 power-play assists place him among the Top 3 AJHL scorers. Gerrie, who hails from Red Deer, has committed to Michigan Tech University for the 2016-17 season.

The Olds Grizzlys are currently suffering through a seven-game losing streak heading into their last pair of regular season games on Feb. 28 and March 1.

The squad is now is seventh place in the eight-team Alberta Junior Hockey League south division after a 3-0 loss to the Drumheller Dragons on Feb. 14, a 5-3 home loss to the Brooks Bandits, who lead the south division, on Feb. 15, a 3-1 loss to the Bandits on Feb. 17 and a 4-2 loss to the Okotoks Oilers on Feb. 21.

The Grizzlys record is now 20 wins, 29 losses and nine overtime losses.

The team's last regular season road game is Feb. 28 against the Camrose Kodiaks in Camrose and the last regular season home game is on March 1 against the Calgary Canucks.

The 2014 AJHL Gas Drive Playoffs begin on March 6.

The good news for the Grizzlys is that forward Chris Gerrie was named the AJHL's 2013-14 rookie of the year on Feb. 24.

Gerrie, 17, leads all AJHL rookies in goals, with 18, assists, with 25, and points, with 53.

His 19 power-play assists place him among the Top 3 AJHL scorers.

Gerrie, who hails from Red Deer, has committed to Michigan Tech University for the 2016-17 season.
