Grizzly defenceman unfazed by looming draft day

The day is coming soon when young men will be called to shake the NHL commissioner's hand and don the cap and jersey of a professional team. It's a dream many would have had since they were boys.

The day is coming soon when young men will be called to shake the NHL commissioner's hand and don the cap and jersey of a professional team. It's a dream many would have had since they were boys.
In late June, that dream could come true for Olds Grizzlys defenceman Nikolas Koberstein.
The 2014 NHL Draft takes place on June 27 to 28 and Koberstein is ranked 205th amongst North American skaters, according to NHL Central Scouting.
Koberstein, 18, said he isn't worried about whether he'll be picked but admits he thinks about the prospects.
"I think most hockey players do. Ever since they're little kids, it's something you always dream about when you go to bed at night and wake up in the morning," Koberstein said.
The Barrhead native, who isn't attending the draft in Philadelphia, doesn't play favourites. He's skated with a couple of teams but does not have a preference on potential suitors.
"It would be an honour to get picked by any team," he said, adding that he hasn't thought about how he'd celebrate if selected.
If Koberstein remains undrafted, he said the experience would spur him on to be a better Grizzly after finishing his rookie season with the team this year.
"Motivation. Trying to get to the next level. My goal does not change," he said. "I still have to work hard and come back to Olds and our team's going to go for a championship this year. That's the main goal."
