Blades Over Broadway, the theme of this year's year-end carnival for the Olds Figure Skating Club, was a successful event with one of the largest ever crowds to watch the skaters perform their routines on Sunday at the Olds Sports Complex.

About 45 skaters participated in the event, doing both solo and group performances of Broadway productions such as Cats and Phantom of the Opera. Participants included those in the senior StarSkate category, the junior StarSkate category as well as skaters from the CanSkate and PreCanSkate groups.

“We had quite a big crowd. It was one of the largest crowds we've had. The costuming was fabulous,” said Patsy Ann Jones, one of the club's coaches, who instructed the solo skaters this year.
